- There are 17 kinds of penguins: Emperor, King, Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo, Magellanic, Humboldt, African Penguin, Galapagos, Macaroni, Rockhopper, Royal, Erect-Crested, Fiordland, Snares Island, Yellow-Eyed and Little Blue or Fairy.
- Each penguin call is different, allowing for easy recognition between mates and chicks
- The Emperor penguin can dive as deep as 700 feet underwater and hold its breath for up to 18 minutes
