I went to an art licensing conference in New York City back in May and had the chance to meet Mr. Debbie Mumm (his first name is really Steve, not Mr. Debbie and he was delightfully friendly). Low and behold there was penguin happiness in their exhibit booth.

The camera girl has been a fan of Debbie Mumm designs for years, so having the opportunity to speak with a family member for a bit was a fantastic experience. Some day I hope I can be a big mass produced plushie, then everyone can have one of me…

no such thing as too much penguin!

I met Ben Huh a couple months ago, one of the owners of I CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGER. The site is usually a site about silly cats but I think they’ve added the penguins just to prove life isn’t happy when you’re always surrounded by hairballs. While we were chatting I also grabbed a genuine ICHC Tshirt- Yes’em dee dee doo! All that, a bag-o-chips AND I got the t-shirt to prove it!

I Can Haz Cheez Burger Haz Penguinz

Yes, I do indeed dig Andrew Wee. I just recently started chatting with the man and find him so entertaining! He is a constant flow of ideas and brainstorms and thoughts, it’s refreshing! Recently, I went with the camera girl again to Las Vegas for a conference and we had the chance to meet Andrew in person. He’s a doll! Seriously, he is so fun to hang out with… a joy to talk to and one of those people that seems to smile constantly and not to mention, he has a great sense of humor. (I think the smiling is due to his constant photo taking when no one is looking, I think he’s chuckling at all our unknowingly goofy faces).

True story, after our photo, he stuck me in his pocket. It was very dark in there, but thankfully he had crumbs from a previous snack. He thought he could keep me. How sweet, right? I’m glad he liked me enough to want to take me home… unfortunately, the camera girl is a bit of a ownership snob — so she snagged me back quite quickly. Maybe I’ll send him a me clone one of these days.

Something fun…  this past week, the camera girl spent some time talking with Andrew and recorded a podcast that is to be published live today on his website, Who Is Andrew Wee. Check it out,  the presentation is Jen Goode talking about running a business in Print on Demand.

I’m very glad I have had the opportunity to cross paths with this man and I look forward to having more inspiring chats with him in the future.

The Penguin Digs Andrew Wee

I met a real Vegas celebrity! Penn from Penn & Teller was at the Rio hotel in Las Vegas while I was visiting and I happen to get a photo – yay! I figured anyone with pen… in his name has got to be darn cool, and this man was quite lovely.

I didn’t get to chat with him, but he didn’t look at me funny either. It was a lovely moment. (Yes, I cropped out the camera girl, she was in the shot and trying to hog my spotlight).

Penn and the Penguin

I went to another conference recently and ran into some guys from Google – they didn’t seem all that interested in talking to me… or the camera lady for that matter. Probably because, how often do people come to take pictures of their penguins instead of talking shop? Either way, it was nice to hang out with google for a little bit. They even let me keep this neat hang-me-up thing.

I think it’s to show off pictures, but I like it for simulating my anti gravity capabilities.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Brad Crooks, you should find a way to do so. He is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and he is an amazing photographer. I met him a while ago, but finally had the opportunity to take a photo with him, instead of by him, just recently.

I like to keep the mystery going… so all you’ll get here is his camera and name tag. Since when do artists show their work before their face anyway?

The penguin meets a photo pro

Back in September, while I was toodling along the trail in Seattle, I ran across the Cow ladies. Yes, I said cow… ladies. I don’t know their names, but I can say they are some of the most inspiring women I’ve never met! While we walked our 60 mile breast cancer walk, these women would drive around cheering on the crew. They drove all day every day, and now matter how far back in the pack we ended up, these ladies could still be spotted.

It really helped boost morale when the feet were swollen and the back ached… the cow mobile would drive by honking and yelling and carrying on like it was someone’s 21st birthday.

I love these ladies!

I was so glad to have spotted them at the end of the end – they made the journey even that much more sparkly and down right dandy.

This is Jack Swigert, born in Colorado, a United States astronaut and one of 3 men that was aboard Apollo13 in 1970. Look how big he is, he’s got to be somewhere around 12 ft tall… they must grow ‘em big in Colorado!

I ran into this amazing man at the Denver airport… fancy meeting him there eah?

This is my newest pal, Karen Garcia. We originally met this past August at an event in Boston, she was also one of the pink ribbon supporters that helped sell buttons at our table. Then we walked together in September in the Seattle 3 day breast cancer walk. Most recently, and the location of this photo, we spent a weekend together for a special event hosted by Share a Sale, an online marketing network.

Karen owns GTO Management, an affiliate marketing management firm. She also runs a delicious foodie blog where you’ll find tons of yumminesses for your tumminesses. (I might even share a scruptious thought or two.. watch for it).
