Penguins love to hike

July 8th, 2008

This is me with my good pal Shawn from Pristine Photography. I’ve been hanging out with him quite a bit over the past few months, so you’ll be seeing a lot more of me and his fabulous photography.

Here we are hiking in the hills of Kentucky - Oh how I love the trees!

Check it out, if you look reallllly close (or just actually look at the photo) you’ll see me on that t-shirt. Yep, that’s really me - surfing penguin t-shirt - who woulda thunk?

The Penguin and Josh Miller

June 28th, 2008

Do you have any idea who Josh Miller is? Well, neither do I, but I passed this trailer on the way to St. Louis last month and loved the design so much that I had to have a photo. It looks official. The driver seemed like they were definitely on their way to some place… so here’s me and the traveling crew for whomever Josh Miller might be and whatever he does. If you know.. holler - I’d love the insight. Go Josh!

Penguin visits the Magic Gardens

June 7th, 2008

have you ever been to the Magic Gardens in Philadelphia? Oh! I have, and it was fabulous!!

“Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is a 501(c)(3) corporation formed by artists and community members to promote and preserve the Art and legacy of Philadelphia Mosaic Mural Artist Isaiah Zagar.”

It’s a wonderfully whimsical place.

Look at all the cool mosaic art-ness I’m surrounded by, can you even see me?? I’ve found a new art form I love, oh joy of joys!

My quote for the day, “Live a painted life”.

Check more information about Isaiah Zagar

I also found a great video about the man, you can watch and listen to Isaiah Zagar here.

The Penguin says David Cook ROCKS

May 21st, 2008

I actually watched the entire series of American Idol this year - even if it ment recording an episode and watching it the next morning over breakfast. David cook was one of my first favorites from the beginning and now he’s won the whole gig. WOW! Right on! and YAY You to David Cook, I say!

I was honestly surprised to watch him win.. I was positive Archuletta was a sure thing in after last night’s crazy episode and all emotional rollercoastering. I’m so glad I was wrong. The man has fabulous talent.

This is a photo of me watching one of the videos on my laptop that I downloaded - pretty cool. Maybe some day I’ll have the opportunity to take a real photo… I’ll be sure to share - ya never know, right?

david cook is the next american idol

Penguin says: Thank you for playing!

April 3rd, 2008

THANK YOU ALL for playing my comment game on April 1st.

I know a lot of people weren’t sure if it was a joke or note… that was the fun for me. It was a blast reading what people had to say and see the great creative writings come out. I appreciate all the fabulous fun you shared with me!

And the winners are…

3. Shawn
won the lil’ plushie me AND a brownie from being the first to comment at or after 4:01 .. and he did manage to get in right at 4:01.

2. Mainstream Bob
was the 4th commentor so won a t-shirt of his choice.

1. SouthBeachAnnie
won the Best Comment. What she says made me smile for hours…

 I love you because you bring smiles to the faces of children of all ages. You increase the amount of joy in the world with the simplicity of just being you. And you fulfill the need we all have to love someone innocently; just because you are you!”

That’s the goal… to be loved just for being you - can you imagine a more perfect way to be?? Thank you Annie!

You all are winners in my mind, thank you again for playing! This was so much fun, I think I need to come up with a regular monthly contest… dontcha think so too?

Remember.. just because you didn’t get listed as a winner on this page, doesn’t mean you have to live life penguin-less ;)

The Penguin and Good People Day

April 3rd, 2008

Gary Vaynerchuk says April 3rd is Good People Day, how can I argue with such a cool day? I love good people. My travels are inspired by Good People, motivated by my desire to continually meet Good People and gosh darnit, without Good People, I would be nothing, seriously, my entire existance is based on my love for the Good People around the world! - and if that ain’t the truth, I give up!

If you’d like to get a sampling of the Good People I’ve had the honor to me, just browse the People section. But that’s only a small percentage of the humans I know with gold in their heart.

I challenge you to continue the shout out about Good People!

Try it - One Good Thing for just one person and see how it can spread. One Good Thing! Then challenge them to do the same. Take just a moment to let at least one person know that they are Good People! :D

So here I am in my DO Good pose… always remember,

YOU ARE
GOOD PEOPLE!
Thank you for being a part of my day

Penguins like to walk

March 26th, 2008

Well, we waddle, really. But check out this guy I met… I didn’t catch his name. I thought it would be even more rude.. not knowing him and just walking up asking for a photo but not asking for a ride - that’s not very polite of me!

carriage bike and the penguin

I forget what these bike carriages are called, but you can pay the man and he’ll cycle you around downtown - looks like fun. I was with 5 other friends, we would have been a bit too heavy I think. Love the color too.

Very nice man indeed. Thank you for the photo!

Big Penguin Thanks to the ASW08 Team!

March 20th, 2008

Thank you all for such a great event. Affiliate Summit West 2008 was a great success in my world. I met a ton of great new people. Caught up with familiar faces and spent time with some old friends. It was all fantastic.

Jim Kukral did a great job as MC - he added such a great vibe to the scene.

Penguin’s Favorite Speaker

March 19th, 2008

My all time favorite speaker is Wil Reynolds (Seer Interactive). Wil speaks about search engine optimization and online marketing. He’s upbeat, easy to listen to and fantastic at getting to the point. He speaks like a normal human being and even jokes while he’s talking. Imagine that! The man has a fabulous personality.

Wil Reynolds

Both times I have heard Wil speak I’ve learned enough to make the whole trip worth while.

Thanks for the photo Wil, you rock!

Penguin hanging with the guys

March 18th, 2008

There’s seems to be plenty more men at Affiliate Summit than women, maybe someone needs to start a girls group, I don’t know. The girls do pretty good on their own.

Here are more of the men I met…

Scott, the founder of Hawkee.com - this quite is quite the cool geek network. I just joined.. you might like my icon. It’s nice to know there is someone I can speak geek with now.

Scott with Hawkee.com

Then there’s the guys from Schaaf Consulting… everywhere I turned, one of them was nearby. Way to go guys, I love the involvement!

Christopher Johnson with PortalLanguageServices.com We met briefly while sharing a cab ride to one of the event parties. Lots of fun.

Mr. Aleks (Mark or James.. eeek, I don’t know!) with Fountain of Youth - He’s a near neighbor of mine and Jarl Moe with CPUnion.com - I could listen to the Norwegian accent all day.

mark_aleks.jpg

This guy - now get this, I met tons of people, all a festive moment to talk with… this guy I grabbed spur of the moment and he even gave me a thumbs up and thats all I have. Antley, I think his last name is Antley. If you can name this name AND get me an email address he replies to, I’ll send you a t-shirt.. featuring.. um… me :D

thumbsup.jpg

and last but definitely not least is Adam Riemer. Adam is so fun to hang out with. He’s fun to watch and fun to listen to.. he cracks me up. This is a picture of the two of us holding his new prized posession.. a sparkly cup with an even more sparkly “pimp” along the middle. Ha! He’s so funny. Good to see you again Adam!
