Ohh yummy food! I just tried Ethiopian food for the first time this week and it was delicious!

From what I’ve been told, it did have a little Colorado hispanic touch to it (onions and green peppers). Despite it’s appearance (muddy dog food eah?) it was really good. There were absolutely NO utensils either. Not like Chinese food where they hand you chop sticks and you then ask for a fork. No. Instead the food was served family style on big plates and we were each handed some flat bread that somewhat resembled flattened sponges and tasted a bit like an old sock. The idea was to rip off a little bit of the bread and then pick up some of the food on the plate.

In this picture there is some kind of a potato and carrots along with chicken legs, lamb (looks like shredded beef), a whole hard boiled egg (also delightful) and then I think, two kinds of lentels. Didn’t know penguins ate meat did ya? Well this one does for sure! My favorite was the lamb with it’s scrumptious gravy.. kinda sweet and kinda meety, mmmm yummy!

It’s kind of like a grapefruit with a little more blech and a lot less potential for tastiness. I did not add sugar or any additives – so maybe it’s great in fruit salad or something. I won’t be jumping to buy more.

They smell great though – after you cut them open.

We had cake for breakfast today – thanks to the camera girl for having a birthday. Her kids made her a cake – which was lovely, even thought we all forgot to bake it for high altitude (go figure, Colorado, altitude, who’d a thunk huh?). Doesn’t matter, it tastes just as glorious as if it looked perfect… probably even better. I’ve had cake with that fancy schmancy fondant pseudo plastic sculpting sugar goo on it and – blech, is all I can say.

We all enjoyed the cake and left about half of it for later today. I was toodling around just now and look what I found.. can you believe it? I’m in shock – This must be what cake looks like after the cake monster gets ahold of it…

she licked off 2/3 of the frosting and mooshed crumbs all over the counter. Almost looks like someone was playing with their food – can you imagine? Rainbow chip cake playdough… I never! Wanna grab a glass of milk and a spoon with me? I’ll be sitting here for the next hour or so.

If you ever go visit Breckenridge, there is a great restaurant up on peak 7 that just opened a month or so ago. It’s called Sevens and has a great selection of yumminess for the ski tripping vacationer. I stopped by for lunch about a week after they opened, and it was delightful. I rode the Gondola up to peak 7 and then waddled on over for a philly cheese steak and a big glass of something I don’t remember.. maybe iced tea.

Sevens in Breckenridge Colorado

That says Sevens, Breckenridge, Colorado – Elevation 10,010 feet. Get a tissue, you might get a nosebleed just thinking about it!

The whole presentation was a little confusing to me. The restaurant is located right at the base of peak 7 as part of the new Grand Lodge resort, a very classic place to hang out – so the restaurant was pretty classy. Me in my winter feathers felt under dressed – yet there’s a bar to hang out at and the menu is full of sandwiches and burgers and french fries besides the fancier dishes… pretty casual. So I guess that’s classy casual, perfect for lunch after a morning on the slopes.

a big juicey cheeseburger with some weird veggie stick

The food was fabulous – definitely cooked to order and not just slapped together. Worth the wait. I’m not sure what was up with those veggie-ish skewers though. Kind of like a condiment totem pole… very odd. (Really I think its because they wanted to add some color but the fries took up all the garish living space.)

I wish, however the portions weren’t so enormous. I mean, really, I’m a hungry bird most days.. but this was huge!

A enormous pile of fries with a Philly Cheese steak

The food was tasty, the view was amazing… Sevens – big n tasty – worth a stop by!

They are, as you can see, bear shapes made of gelatin. Just bi old mouth full of gelified yum. We don’t make them – no we aren’t that ambious with our snack food. We buy them in the pre-made foods section of the grocery store deli. These tasty little bears come in blue, orange and red – although I don’t recall the color tasting differently.

And cool, they’re just my size – I do have reat taste in friends If I may say so myself!

You might think these little treats are only for kids – put them on a serving tray and set them out at your next dinner party – the adults will snag a few too.

Didn’t Bill Cosby have something to say about the fun that is Jell-o?

I have never seen such yummy turkey as the day I set my eyes on this scrumptious little marshmellow treat. Look carefully, it really is a turkey. Marshmello feathers and a chocolate kiss head, this is probably the most delightful little treat I’ve sat next to in quite some time.

Treat was generously shared by my 6 year old pal. He made it in school and I was lucky enough to have it brought home un-eatten.

I spent the day yesterday in the midst of the fabulous fun chaos of 13 year olds. One of my best friends turned 13 this weekend and his party with all his pals was yesterday. In addition to the fun frolicking, the video games and the scarfing of junk food, one of the party guests made this goofy pi, out of pizza crust. He was so excited about his creativity, I had to stop and take a photo with it.

The famous pizza pi of 2008.
