Penguin sweating at the gym

June 11th, 2008

I’ve been training really hard with my pal JGoode, the camera girl, for my big walk in September, and I thought I’d share with you the sweat and toiling I’ve been enduring…

Please note, it is indeed an undaunting task to keep track of how many miles the camera girl travels. Thank goodness I’m here so she can focus on moving forward and not worrying about thinking of such number issues. I’d offer to carry the towel for her too, but she prefers to rough it and use a sleeve instead.

In case you are unaware or had forgotten. We are participating in a 3-day breast cancer walk held in Seattle this coming September. If you’d like more information or to support the cause, please visit me and my pals at PinkRibbonPenguins.com I’d love to see your donation on the list!

Penguin at the 125th Brooklyn Bridge Anniversary

June 3rd, 2008

I just went with a pal to the 125th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge. How cool is that? Can you believe, 125 years? - no kidding!

We hung out during the day and then stayed all the way through to the night light show. It was an absolutely beautiful sight

If you’d like a little Brooklyn Bridge history, New York City Roads has a great page.

Penguins and Baseball

May 27th, 2008

I’m a huge baseball fan… well I’m a huge watcher of baseball. I know nothing as far as the game and the strategies or the best players and stats. I just enjoy the game… I like hanging out with friends, eating snacks and watching the game unfold. Plus, one of my good friends plays little league, so I see a lot of local ball.

A few weeks back I went to see the Colorado Rockies play at Coors field. It was a great night and a fantastic game.

I even had a few peanuts - mmmmmm  tasty!

Penguin mini buttons for the art show

May 18th, 2008

I am all about art and art education and art for the sake of just being creative for 37 seconds. So when I had the opportunity to share a bit of myself for a student art show at a school that loves penguins, how could I say no?

So I created 575 mini me buttons and sent them to San Diego. Each button had a picture of me as an art penguin with the words “creativity is something wonderful” written above. Then, I put each button in a mini jewelry bag and included a card that said…

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ~ Edgar Degas

“I Believe there is an artist in us all. How or what you choose to create is entirely up to you. I’ve created drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures - big, small and much more. My favorite creations are always those that remind me of a special moment. My life is my art and my art is my life. ” ~ Jennifer Goode • jgoode.com

I spent a few days putting all this penguin fun together, but when it was all done and said it was SO worth it. I was sent some of the most wonderful photos in return. Kids and their art and art by the kids and just art everywhere. I Love it! It’s so fantastic to me to see what results from a little creative inspiration. Amazing, really amazing.

The art show’s theme was “Thumbs Up for Art”.

With JGoode’s permission to use the penguin image, the art show team created a penguin big enough to allow all the kids to add their thumb print and create a group masterpiece. The result was a terrific pointillism penguin.

Check out this wonderful art created by the students…

And there was even a penguin “piggy bank” for fund raising. I hear they made a bit of a happy pile of contributions to go towards the art program. See, penguins really can help make the world a better place… who woulda thunk art would be included in that?

A special shout out to Tara for asking me to be involved in this fabulous event… thousands of miles away, yet I had a delightful time!

note: the additional photos were posted courtesy of and with permission from the original photographer (thank you for sharing!)

Penguin is now a trainer

May 10th, 2008

So maybe you’ve heard… I’m going to be hanging out with the camera girl and a pile of her online friends as they all walk in the Seattle 3-day breast cancer walk in September. I personally am quite fit and ready to take on any challange. The camera girl, however likes to sit and eat bon bons all day while she doodles and does not much of anything else ;)

So, I’ve taken it upon myself to be there for her when she trains. I’m quite proud, she’s getting off her hiney and walking a little. YAY!

So this is me, sitting on the treadmill panel coaching her on. 4.22 miles in 65 minutes -

that 350 is calories. I’m pretty sure those all burned out through sweat alone, but don’t tell her I said that. ~wink

If you want to know more about our involvement in this fabulous event, go check out Pink Ribbon Penguins - oh and yes Please! Feel free to donate!

The Penguin free to roam again in time for World Penguin Day!

April 25th, 2008

Last night, I was rescued by the Loxly Gallery butterfly.. So now I’m back and ready to run to all kinds of new places.

(Really I never left) I’m not THE only me in the universe you know ~wink (I have many brothers and sisters, and we like to trade places).. so sneaking out and playing for a few days, no one will ever know where I really am.. when I’m here or when I’m not. I had a lot of fun playing with Rolet… there’s probably more fun to come from that direction.

So, I was in New York yesterday… and back home in Colorado today - YAY!

Now here I am just in time to celebrate World Penguin Day with all my pals!

I’m so glad that I have friends I can visit around the world. You all are so fabulous - LOVE YOU!

THANK YOU ALL for playing my comment game on April 1st.

That’s the goal… to be loved just for being you - can you imagine a more perfect way to be?? Thank you Annie!

You all are winners in my mind, thank you again for playing! This was so much fun, I think I need to come up with a regular monthly contest… dontcha think so too?

The Penguin and Good People Day

April 3rd, 2008

Gary Vaynerchuk says April 3rd is Good People Day, how can I argue with such a cool day? I love good people. My travels are inspired by Good People, motivated by my desire to continually meet Good People and gosh darnit, without Good People, I would be nothing, seriously, my entire existance is based on my love for the Good People around the world! - and if that ain’t the truth, I give up!

If you’d like to get a sampling of the Good People I’ve had the honor to me, just browse the People section. But that’s only a small percentage of the humans I know with gold in their heart.

I challenge you to continue the shout out about Good People!

Try it - One Good Thing for just one person and see how it can spread. One Good Thing! Then challenge them to do the same. Take just a moment to let at least one person know that they are Good People! :D

So here I am in my DO Good pose… always remember,

YOU ARE
GOOD PEOPLE!
Thank you for being a part of my day
