Penguins and Butterflies Fluttering By

Have you ever walked with butterflies fluttering all around you? Penguins don’t usually get such a neat opportunity. I mean, really, how often do you hear of butterflies in the arctic?

Well I am a lucky duck, er, bird. I went to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, Colorado. It’s amazing. There were butterflies everywhere! I even got to watch a keeper release a few new fluttering friends into the habitat.

Here are a few photos we took while we were there. Well, the camera girl took them… but i directed and pointed out the pretty ones.

This butterfly I could have taken a ride on, it was so big!

This butterfly its a little snitty. It just sat there all day sticking its tongue out at us the whole time.

This butterfly was enjoying the sun.

I love the colors on this one… I’ve never seen a butterfly with such soft pastel colors.

Once again, I had a fantastic time with a brand new experience.

Penguin, stars and stripes

I was trying to get a photo over the July 4th weekend of me and the fireworks… but have you tried to get good lighting of a black feathered friend…. in the dark? It’s not easy, and flashes are the worst. So here I am being thankful for the great United States of America by standing next to a license plate. I wanted to share my spirit of celebrating our independence before the month ended… so here I am.

Oh sure, go ahead and giggle. How do you think YOUR head would look next to the plastic stripes and stars? Right! I’m much cuter.

Penguins are very patriotic you know.

I have a penguin! The surprise visit

So a friend of mine was really hoping a penguin would come visit her some day so I surprised her by sending a special little package. She had just returned home from a long trip, was exhausted and nearly delirious with post vacation-ness. This is her initial reaction to my arrival…
Thankfully her sister thought quick enough to grab the video camera and caught the whole reaction.

Oh how I love surprises! It’s like spreading a little happiness with every thought - wheeee!

Me and the Italian Penguin

You didn’t know there was such a thing as an Italian penguin did you? Oh yes, and here’s proof…

I went with a couple of friends to Italy and we ran across this handsome bird, so of course I had to stop and pose for a photo. I’ll tell you more about my trip soon… spaghetti will never be the same again!

Penguin crosses into West Virginia

This is me at the Welcome to West Virginia sign. I love it out here, the eastern united states is so lush and green and just plain beautiful.

I wasn’t able to stay in West Virginia, however. So, I didn’t get the opportunity to check out what is so wild.. I already know the wonderful (read above).

Penguins LOVE Steak and Shake

Have you ever been, have you ever enjoyed a steak and a shake at the same time?

If you live anywhere near St. Louis, you probably have. It’s a fast food (actually called “causal dining”) change of restaurants with super yummy burgers and extraordinarily delicious shakes.

One thing I had to get used to was the size of the burgers. Where I come from, burgers are thick. Big and juicy and oh so scruptious thick. These burgers, however, are super thin.. but don’t let that fool you! Oh no, they are packed with flavor!

This is my next to my sourdought bread yumminess and my half chocolate half strawberry delightfully yummy shake!

Don’t forget the onion rings

Penguin goes to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

I love flowers - and I’m sure if i were a bee, the flowers would love me too. Right now, I don’t think they care one way or another, but that’s another story entirely.

Anyway, here’s me at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens -

I could sit here all day showing you photos of all the incredible foliage, but I won’t. I know you have things to do. So for now I’ll just share this small handful…

This is me in a tree - I don’t remember what kind of why I even thought a tree would interest you. I do however remember thinking.. wow a tree I can fit in, neat.. it’s just my size. And, if you were small like me, you would be entertained by that as well… so don’t make fun!

Yellow is a good color near me, dontcha think? In case you are unaware, this is a Daffodil. love ‘em!

Penguin in Rotterdam

I have a couple friends traveling around Europe and I was able to tag along. Here’s me in front of a windmill in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Until now, I have never seen a windmill up close… they’re much bigger than I expected.

I have to say, “the camera girl” is quite jealous of my traveling without her… maybe some day she’ll hit the European scenery on her own. When she does, I’m sure I’ll be there.

Penguin and the Little Blues

I finally got to meet some little blue penguins. You think I’m cute and tiny? These guys are just down right adorable! yeah, I said it, they’re cute! I’m still smaller, but so.
