Penguins crossing the Missouri River

June 30th, 2008

Well, not really, it was just me. However, if I had multiple personalities, each counting for another penguin, then I guess i could say that it was penguinS crossing.

Anyway…

There are a number of places you can cross the Missouri river. This happens to be up north, heading towards Iowa.

It’s bigger than it really looks…

Penguin and the mystery mural

June 29th, 2008

I thought this was a cool little mural. It’s painted on an electrical box behind some shops on Main St. in Breckenridge, Colorado.

I think it’s a great mix of images… not sure why or who created the art, but I really enjoyed finding it.

The Penguin and Josh Miller

June 28th, 2008

Do you have any idea who Josh Miller is? Well, neither do I, but I passed this trailer on the way to St. Louis last month and loved the design so much that I had to have a photo. It looks official. The driver seemed like they were definitely on their way to some place… so here’s me and the traveling crew for whomever Josh Miller might be and whatever he does. If you know.. holler - I’d love the insight. Go Josh!

Penguins at the Omaha Zoo

June 27th, 2008

Here’s me and a few of my penguin pals at the Omaha Zoo (also known as the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska). So far, this is one of the best places I have been in the USA to see penguins. They have the coolest little home away from home. There are a bunch of different types of penguins, so if you haven’t had the chance, come by and check them out. You’ll find King penguins, Gentoo penguins, Little Blue penguins, Rockhopper penguins and I heard a rumor that there is a Macaroni penguin, but I didn’t get to see it.

I’d love to come back another day and spend more time… this is a fantastic place to visit!

Find the penguin

June 26th, 2008

So I went with my friends to buy a bottle of wine for a dinner gathering with more friends. I found this delightful display of bottles… just my size - oh joy! So i hopped on up, took this photo.. and then forgot to hop back down.

AND THEY LEFT ME THERE!

I was horridfied! Leaving me all alone with the wine and the crazy wine buyers. Ok, maybe they aren’t all crazy, but still. Can you believe it??

To my delight, the camera girl showed up the next afternoon and took me back home. Good thing I didn’t move or she would have never found me.

I’d like to send out a special Thanks to Lukas Liquors for protecting me all night.

Do you see me?

Penguin at the cool pool!

June 25th, 2008

This morning I’ve been hanging out at the pool for a little bit while
my friend is taking swim lessons. Check out this awesome slide! - if
only I were tall enough to be allowed to go down… Darn pool rules…
No peeing and no sliding… Where’s the fun gone?

penguin visits the International Bowling Museum

June 22nd, 2008

Bowling, have you ever been bowling? Not only have I now been bowling, I visited the International Bowling Museum while I was in St. Louis, Missouri.

I always thought it was a fun Saturday night entertainment kind of activity. I never knew how serious a sport blow is. I also never realized there were so many interesting facts, unexpected history and fabulous champions related to bowling. Seriously! The museum starts out with ancient egyptians and walks you through to the Hall of Fame. Quiet fascinating.

In the lower level of the museum they also have a small bowling ally, and you get for free rounds with your admission ticket.

There were a number of displays and exhibits to view along with a lot of names and faces to learn about. You’ll have to see it for yourself!

Penguin crosses into Iowa

June 21st, 2008

Here’s my quick drive by view of the Iowa state line.

There wasn’t much to see on this little span of driving.. other than picturesque views of farm land.. which of course, I enjoy greatly. Next time I will have to make a point to stop and take in at least one sight.

Penguin says, If I Smell…

June 20th, 2008

The sign says it all…

If I smell
it’s because
I’M A PENGUIN
and I eat fish

How obvious and silly all at once!
and to think, you love me anyway ~wink

note: this photo was taken at the Omaha Zoo by the Little Blue penguins.

Penguin in St. Louis, Missouri

June 19th, 2008

I stopped in downtown St. Louis over memorial day weekend and got a shot of the capital building and the arch.

I’ve never been up inside the arch. The idea of a long cramped creaky ride doesn’t sound all that delightful to me. I’d rather stand at the base and spin while staring up… until I fall over.
