Penguins and Baseball

May 27th, 2008

I’m a huge baseball fan… well I’m a huge watcher of baseball. I know nothing as far as the game and the strategies or the best players and stats. I just enjoy the game… I like hanging out with friends, eating snacks and watching the game unfold. Plus, one of my good friends plays little league, so I see a lot of local ball.

A few weeks back I went to see the Colorado Rockies play at Coors field. It was a great night and a fantastic game.

I even had a few peanuts - mmmmmm  tasty!

Penguin taking a little swim

May 26th, 2008

Bet you don’t know what swimming pool I’m at ~wink. This particular pool is pretty great. You can swim on this side, inside or swim under the divider wall and you’re outside. This is especially lovely if it’s a cold snowy day and you’re soaking the warm water.

I was here a few weeks back, relaxing with my goode pals. We decided to take a little swim after dinner. What a great way to end the day!

Penguin at Blondies

May 25th, 2008

This is me hanging out with my friend’s at Blondie’s sports bar in NYC for wings and beer to watch the ncaa championship (yes, this photo is a bit dated, it got lost in that pile of buttons I just dug myself out of ~wink) . I had a great time!

Penguin and the Liberty Bell

May 24th, 2008

It’s always good to endure a little history.. especially when it comes to interesting monuments and American mile stones or jingly bells I guess. So I took a little trip to see the Liberty Bell in Philly. There’s all kinds of interesting tid bits about this big ol’ bell. You can read more by visiting ushistory.org

Since when can’t penguins fish?

May 23rd, 2008

I think I should be the exception of this rule.. it’s a fuzzy photo, only because I wanted to share my tear-filled view of the notion.

The Penguin says David Cook ROCKS

May 21st, 2008

I actually watched the entire series of American Idol this year - even if it ment recording an episode and watching it the next morning over breakfast. David cook was one of my first favorites from the beginning and now he’s won the whole gig. WOW! Right on! and YAY You to David Cook, I say!

I was honestly surprised to watch him win.. I was positive Archuletta was a sure thing in after last night’s crazy episode and all emotional rollercoastering. I’m so glad I was wrong. The man has fabulous talent.

This is a photo of me watching one of the videos on my laptop that I downloaded - pretty cool. Maybe some day I’ll have the opportunity to take a real photo… I’ll be sure to share - ya never know, right?

Penguin mini buttons for the art show

May 18th, 2008

I am all about art and art education and art for the sake of just being creative for 37 seconds. So when I had the opportunity to share a bit of myself for a student art show at a school that loves penguins, how could I say no?

So I created 575 mini me buttons and sent them to San Diego. Each button had a picture of me as an art penguin with the words “creativity is something wonderful” written above. Then, I put each button in a mini jewelry bag and included a card that said…

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ~ Edgar Degas

“I Believe there is an artist in us all. How or what you choose to create is entirely up to you. I’ve created drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures - big, small and much more. My favorite creations are always those that remind me of a special moment. My life is my art and my art is my life. ” ~ Jennifer Goode • jgoode.com

I spent a few days putting all this penguin fun together, but when it was all done and said it was SO worth it. I was sent some of the most wonderful photos in return. Kids and their art and art by the kids and just art everywhere. I Love it! It’s so fantastic to me to see what results from a little creative inspiration. Amazing, really amazing.

The art show’s theme was “Thumbs Up for Art”.

With JGoode’s permission to use the penguin image, the art show team created a penguin big enough to allow all the kids to add their thumb print and create a group masterpiece. The result was a terrific pointillism penguin.

Check out this wonderful art created by the students…

And there was even a penguin “piggy bank” for fund raising. I hear they made a bit of a happy pile of contributions to go towards the art program. See, penguins really can help make the world a better place… who woulda thunk art would be included in that?

A special shout out to Tara for asking me to be involved in this fabulous event… thousands of miles away, yet I had a delightful time!

note: the additional photos were posted courtesy of and with permission from the original photographer (thank you for sharing!)

Penguin passes through Frisco, Colorado

May 15th, 2008

Just passing through, that’s what I do, yodle aye he WHO! Well not entirely, but for this particular picture, that’s all it is… a passing through, quick drive by photo of a city sign. Very poor lighting and photo set up, I know. Forgive me, the camera girl can’t be perfect every darn day of her life.. just half of them!

Frisco is a tiny little town right off of I70. You have to pass through Frisco to get to glorious Breckenridge. I do enjoy this town, it’s lovely.

Penguin says Thanks for the cookies!

May 14th, 2008

I got a package! I got a PACKAGE — oh yes today, i said HOORAY! because someone loves me and thinks I’m great (even though I’m always late) so they sent me a present just because and now I feel so very loved!

No, I didn’t get cookies, I got a cookie cutter actually. Which, of course, is a gazillion times better than just cookies because its cookies times a gazillion cookie making moments.

My friends over at Rotem Gear found this cute little penguin cookie cutter and sent it to me - I’m so excited - THANK YOU!

Penguin sees his first hay truck

May 13th, 2008

have you ever seen a truck hauling hay? I haven’t… I’ve been up north entirely too long I guess. So here’s a photo of me and the passing truck-o-hay… Wow I wish krill came along loaded up like that. Can you imagine?

Pretty neat huh?
